Right to information

The Right to Information Act 2009 (RTI Act) provides a right of access to government information unless, on balance, it is contrary to the public interest to release the information.

PLEASE NOTE: 

• This process does not apply to matters and proceedings which are before the Industrial Court of Queensland, Queensland Industrial Relations Commission or Industrial Registrar.  
• Applications for documents relating to a matter or proceedings before the Court, Commission or Industrial Registrar are outside the scope of the RTI Act. Further, judicial function decisions are not reviewable decisions for which an external review may be sought from the Office of the Information Commissioner.
• The appropriate procedure for obtaining copies of filed documents relating to a matter is to make a Search and Copy request. Please refer to our Services page for further information on making a Search and Copy request – including the Search and Copy request form and Search and Copy Policy.
